Well, it does have Corn.

I saw a commercial the other day trying to sell people on the idea that by buying products with High Fructose Corn Syrup. The pitch was that by buying the products, the consumers are helping the corn farmers survive. Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, lab mice are literately being blown up due to a diet including, not solely, high fructose corn syrup. Sweet.
So, while shopping at Costco, my most favorite place to be, I made the tough choice to purchase Aunt Jemima Syrup (2-40 oz bottles for $5.50) over the organic pure maple syrup (1-22 oz bottle for $17.95). At that point it was not really that tough of a choice, I have no money. I make pancakes a lot for the girls and they have a unnatural obsession with waffles. That I am not worried about, its the syrup that gives me the willies. I was sort of ok about the pure maple, but come on, almost $40 a month on syrup? That is out of control. Then I brought home the stuff I grew up on, Aunt Jemima. First ingredient, high fructose corn syrup. Sweet. To get the crap to get onto the pancakes, I have to heat it up. It comes out as thick as sap. Would rather feed the girls sap, to be honest. It has food color to make it look like food, when really it is just mouse-killing crap. It is impossible to clean up. It tastes like pure sugar (girls love it).
So, needless to say, my girls have it a few times a week. Shit, no one said I was perfect.

First Project!

So, its not perfect. And that makes me sad. Well, not really. I am just happy to know that I can sew. Happy may be a bit of an overstatement. I am relived and a bit nervous. Relieved to know that my quest to become the best goddamn homemaker in the world has not been thwarted by a white machine. Nervous that now I have to continue my quest. 20 bucks says shear laziness is what will bring me down...

Here it is! Pink version in the making. Along with 4 chair covers, a bag, a tee shirt, iPhone cover and laptop cover...

Gifts

Through out this year I have learned too much for my pretty big head. One thing I retained is the major pain in the ass it is to keep a home clean without making my family sick. I know my girls will need therapy someday, I just don't want it to be because they thought I was trying to poison them with the Swiffer Wet-Jet. So, I started making my own cleaners. Note, I make them. I have not perfected the whole using them thing. I am thinking oatmeal can crust on the floor for at least 5 days. Maybe 4 if a baby is coming over.
Anywhoo, I decided to make my own cleaners for friends and family this year. "B Clean". So original I could puke. It was a hit though! I am even making some for my mom to hand out at one of her 5,000 group parties. Free advertising. cha-ching. Who knows, this site may turn into a little shop for my cleaners (someone print this out. When I am the next Mrs. Meyers, I will totally sign it).
Then, my husband (I have read chat rooms and other blogs that refer to their husband as DH and their daughter as DD. Supposedly that means Dear Husband and Dear Daughter. I think that is so not ok.) gave me a sewing machine! CRACK! I am already a member of a sewing site, I am putting the finishing touches on my first shirt (patterns can suck it), and I am redoing what was going to be our next baby room into a sewing room (pass the birth control, momma needs to create some shit). It has been 3 days. Obsessed much? I will post some pictures and stuff someday.
So, to recap some shit, I make my daughters their food, I make my own cleaner, I drive a mini-van, I knit, I sew, I own 6,498 pairs of sweatpants and I am thinking about moving to the suburbs for the schools.
I am going to make a tattoo appointment tomorrow.
