Please let me stop eating my daughters' leftovers.

Thanks,

To my friends

I am friends with a lot of smart, literary people. I just wanted to tell them all that I can sing nursery rhymes around your intellectual ass all day long. Bring it.

Projects

I am still sewing. Despite my lack of patience and time, I am still trying. A girlfriend and I are going to get some of our projects up online to sell. I will keep you posted.

I have been addicted to trolling the Internet for free patterns and ideas. Holy balls, there is a lot out there. It is obnoxious how many puns there are on the word 'sew'. They are sew funny. Sew clever. Sew annoying.

I am a daily stopper-byer of Burda Style, an open source sewing site. Has great patterns submitted by more skilled sewers then I.

But, I made this bag from a pattern off of J. Caroline Creative. Super dope site. This is my first bag, I am in the process of making another. But I think it turned out nice!

Then I made this laptop sleeve from a pattern off the site Sew Mama Sew.

They are my first. So, expect greatness is alls I gots to say.

Here are a few more things that I have messed around with:

Some new pictures

Just so you know, they are pretty dope.

Fine

I am back. I actually lost sleep last night thinking that I need/want to update this more. I think I ran out of things to obsess about.

Something to do while I am watching Jurassic Park.

I should just start every blog off as... I am so bad at posting blogs. So now that I have a few minutes (husband is sick in bed, girls are still napping and I am choosing not to wash the floors after spending an hour picking up most of my house), I figure I will write something. Good thing I have nothing to talk about!
But it has been a while. Since my last post I have successfully planned and executed 2 full weeks worth of dinners and we were slightly under budget for household spending for the first time in forever! Seriously, this is the shit that gets me excited?! As for sewing, I made my first tee shirt (super simple pattern that I am excited to tweek) I made a laptop bag that I dig (had to tear it apart once, but now that I know the next one will be cuter) and a iPhone/credit card wallet thingy. I also finished the Twilight series (I actually like Jacob more then Edward, kinda into the straight-forward, other side of the tracks thing). I ran 3 miles about 10 times and ran a 6 and 7 mile run OUTSIDE! Praying this weather keeps up. I have been on a few play dates, I have worked (I should be working more), I have not put my laundry away in a timely manner, I can not seem to figure out how to put dishes away after they are clean, I got knocked out in a poker tournament after a few rounds (Jeff won 5th) and I have laughed at my daughters more then I thought possible. They are so funny right now. Just starting to figure out how to put the random words together to achieve a goal, so funny to watch!
So, now you know.
I will say that this upcoming week is scaring the he-be-geebees outta me. My mother is in Florida and my Mother in Law is having eye surgery, so neither can watch the girls for me. I am sure it will not be a problem to get work done, but (cue the violins) I have not had a full week with them in a long time! Now that they are more active, I am afraid I am going to run out of things to do! I cleaned my basement so we have another area, but I am still a bit nervous. The weather has been nice so I am praying that we can get outside a bit.
Alright. Got that out of my system. Maybe I will check in sooner this time!

Well, it does have Corn.

I saw a commercial the other day trying to sell people on the idea that by buying products with High Fructose Corn Syrup. The pitch was that by buying the products, the consumers are helping the corn farmers survive. Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, lab mice are literately being blown up due to a diet including, not solely, high fructose corn syrup. Sweet.
So, while shopping at Costco, my most favorite place to be, I made the tough choice to purchase Aunt Jemima Syrup (2-40 oz bottles for $5.50) over the organic pure maple syrup (1-22 oz bottle for $17.95). At that point it was not really that tough of a choice, I have no money. I make pancakes a lot for the girls and they have a unnatural obsession with waffles. That I am not worried about, its the syrup that gives me the willies. I was sort of ok about the pure maple, but come on, almost $40 a month on syrup? That is out of control. Then I brought home the stuff I grew up on, Aunt Jemima. First ingredient, high fructose corn syrup. Sweet. To get the crap to get onto the pancakes, I have to heat it up. It comes out as thick as sap. Would rather feed the girls sap, to be honest. It has food color to make it look like food, when really it is just mouse-killing crap. It is impossible to clean up. It tastes like pure sugar (girls love it).
So, needless to say, my girls have it a few times a week. Shit, no one said I was perfect.

First Project!

So, its not perfect. And that makes me sad. Well, not really. I am just happy to know that I can sew. Happy may be a bit of an overstatement. I am relived and a bit nervous. Relieved to know that my quest to become the best goddamn homemaker in the world has not been thwarted by a white machine. Nervous that now I have to continue my quest. 20 bucks says shear laziness is what will bring me down...

Here it is! Pink version in the making. Along with 4 chair covers, a bag, a tee shirt, iPhone cover and laptop cover...
